How do we decide which vehicles should be electrified first? How do we look into a huge amount of data and define risk-benefit relation and timing for such transition? It all depends on how we look at the business case. Are you up to the challenge? We are looking for a very special candidate!

Total cost of ownership (TCO) is a well-established calculation method used by Customers and Scania to review the performance of their vehicle fleet over time.

In the transition to an electrically driven world, the ambition of this project is to analyse data from running vehicles and to develop methods that allow us to look at an individual or a group of individuals and rank their suitability for electrification.

A good overview of established and upcoming technologies will be needed as well as a financial perspective. The model developed should be able to compare financial business cases of different solutions over lifetime, and present the results both numerically and graphically, in order to create a visual comparison between the several alternatives.

The candidate will work in collaboration with Scania R&D engineers in Södertälje. The work will include:
  • Understand TCO calculations, develop a methodology and compare it with existing models
  • Understand technical alternatives in EVs and how they affect the calculations
  • Review vehicle data with technical experts and relate it to vehicle specifications
  • Develop TCO financial models and presentation tools to looks at any given vehicle/ population of vehicles in many alternative vehicle configurations
  • Ability to evaluate results and propose future improvements

  • Undergraduate in Industrial Economy or Finance, Business or Economics with abilities and to work with Excel, Access and rapidly grasp other business intelligence IT tools
  • Experience or interest for business related development of tools for data analysis and financial models
  • Technical background or passion for electrification to understand the different technical alternatives
  • Good communications skills in English and Swedish
