The Common Architecture Pier (CAT) sector is part of the Ericsson Radio Base Station organization where we develop and bring world-leading 5G and Multi standard Radio Base Station (RBS) software functionality to the market, based on technology leadership of Ericsson Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions.

In the CAT organization we develop the functionality above platform level in the RBS for equipment/hardware management and configuration of radio resources, interconnect, antenna system control.

What you will do

As SW Architect, you will work at the unit Technology Management (TM). Your team is technically responsible for architecture evolution of the functionalities residing in the CAT module. You and your team are driving architecture and design towards our development teams and driving architecture in feature development by participating in system studies.

In your role driving architectural work, you will focus on SW implementation architecture and SW development environment. The purpose is to secure future proof SW architecture enabling efficient functional growth in CAT in all current and future RAN deployments. Current architecture is in C++ on Ericsson HW. Future architecture involves development of a virtualized infrastructure.

When involved in system studies, you will participate in both early phases of feature development and in conceptual studies. Your role is to add domain knowledge of the CAT functionality and how it is implemented, and insight into how the system design impacts SW implementation.

Being an SW architect in a large organization, you need to both be able to implement solutions and act as informal technical leader steering the organization. Your team has a large number of designers to help to implement your vision. You will work together with very skilled persons in an environment with high possibility for you to grow within the SW field.

Required competence:

  • You have a deep and broad interest in software development and software architecture;
  • You have solid understanding in many programming languages and paradigms including C++ and Java
  • It is good if you have good knowledge in virtualization/cloud native
  • It is preferably if you have domain competence within this type of functionality
  • You can move between high level strategies and low-level code implementation
  • You are confident as an informal technical leader
  • You are used to take responsibility for your tasks
