Our Exciting Opportunity

This position is a part of Shared Telecom Services (STS) which is a program with the purpose to provide telecom test environments for Ericsson globally. We deliver our services to a multitude of internal customers ranging from R&D organizations to regional customer service and sales organizations. We are currently 40 persons located in Gothenburg and 120 in the whole STS program.

STS in Gothenburg delivers end-to-end mobile networks, IT and IP infrastructure for testing and trial purposes. We are now looking for an IP Network Engineer.

The IP Network Engineer scope covers the whole IP network from design, implementation, operation and security. The networking group within the unit is responsible for the infrastructures that enable development, test and showcasing of Ericsson products and solutions.

Focus is on the IP network solutions around Packet Core*, but it's not limited to that area. These networks include central infrastructures as well as shared and dedicated test environments.

The work is mainly focused around routers, switches and firewalls, but products like traffic generators, packet monitoring, WiFi and network monitoring systems and more is also part of the work description. Different networking vendors are used in the environments; Ericsson's own products as well as the big vendors in the networking world.

The daily work includes analysis of customer requirements into design and implementation, building new as well as changing existing network configurations and using monitoring/troubleshooting tools to give best-in-class support to our users.

The work is performed in teams working in agile influenced processes - cross both organizational and geographical borders. You will be working hands-on with IP networking and security solutions for telecom environments. Finally, you will be expected to engage in how we constantly can improve our services in terms of efficiency, quality and technology. Packet Core is what enables us all to access the internet when being on the move. From mobile phones devices or tablets e.g using an Android or IOS App. It's just one those life necessities many of us use every day and which most people are totally unaware of!

To be successful in the role you must have

  • You enjoy working in teams, with people from various disciplines and you can communicate with others in English.
  • You are experienced within IP networking and security, at least with CCNP certificate level or equal. Experience within Telecom, Service Provider or large-scale Datacenter networks is a great advantage.
  • You are used to working with, and have deep knowledge about routers, switches and firewalls from different vendors in live environments and understand what it means to operate live networks with many users.
  • You are used to working with Linux based operating systems and preferably you have worked with virtualization platforms.
  • Automation in the form of scripting, using e.g. Python, is something you are interested in.
  • You have experience from working in a global test environment serving RnD
