About the Role


The Infrastructure Operations Team is responsible for maintaining and supporting the global network, storage and compute infrastructure across all sites, ensuring a world class service is delivered for our customers.

This role will report to the Global Head of Infrastructure Operations and will own the local site infrastructure, ensuring all standards, SLA's & requirements are met for the business.

The environment is diverse and complex with a mix of both current and legacy platforms and as such you will take ownership for a number of services covering network, storage, compute & virtualisation. You will lead the virtual team, ensuring best practice is adhered to, promote team working, ensure good communication and prioritise workload to help drive up and maintain stability of all systems, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with the local Operation and Technology Solutions leads and manage the infrastructure to ensure the effective delivery and support of high quality internal IT services to meet the required SLAs for service delivery
  • Support user-centric products - bring a passion for excellence, encourage teams to achieve better results for our users and customers and understand the detail of the local services provided and how this relates to the infrastructure
  • Ensure all aspects of Life Cycle Management are planned and delivered on a continual basis
  • Develop infrastructure processes, documentation and policies, execute locally, apply IT strategy and lead change. Work collaboratively with other Infrastructure and technology teams across the organisation
  • Lead, motivate and develop the virtual team; guide and mentor other infrastructure operations team members outside of your site
  • Identify and share standard methodologies; promote team working, ensure good communication and prioritise workload to help drive up and maintain stability of all systems, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Incident/problem/change management and tracking from inception to communication and resolution within agreed timescales
  • Drive continuous improvement through effective problem resolution and data driven decision making; necessary design, install, test and delivery tasks to eliminate single points of failure and enhance systems to the point of "zero effort maintenance"
  • Act as an emergency 24x7 escalation point for issues impacting the local site
  • Provide technical expertise to major incident root cause analysis and customer facing meetings as required
  • Liaise with Infrastructure teams and manage relationships with 3rd party vendors for support where necessary
  • Work with the Head of Infrastructure Operations to define and maintain the annual Operational IT budgets and ensure that financial targets are met.



The Skills You Need


  • Proven leadership abilities: leading by example, with a track record of empowering teams to perform at a high level and the ability to work within a team
  • A dynamic personality and effectively engage and influence a variety of audiences including colleagues and partners at all levels of a business
  • The ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, balancing deliverables for multiple projects and obligations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical subjects to different types of internal audiences in English
  • Highly resilient, flexible and accommodating under pressure - there may be technical emergencies needed your expertise out of hours
  • Bachelor's degree (BSc) in an I.T. or similar discipline, or equivalent level of experience is desirable
  • Experience from delivering against a complex and rapidly changing technical environment, requiring a flexible and ‘can do' attitude, even when there is unclear direction
  • Deep understanding of customer service with the ability to view systems in terms of service provision rather than discrete technical components, understand that technology is the business enabler
  • Customer facing skills and 3PP relationship management
  • Understanding and appreciation of a ITIL Service Management and project methodologies
  • Extensive experience in fault finding methodologies in complex system and network infrastructures
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of:
    - Core network infrastructure technologies (firewall & switch deployment & configuration, VPN, VRF, TCP/IP, DNS) and compute technologies
    Or
    - Core VMware and Microsoft technologies from an architecture and administration perspective (AD, Windows Server & client OS's, clustering, DFS, DNS/DHCP, PKI, SQL AO clusters, PowerShell, deploying and supporting VMware platforms), and an understanding of network technologies
  • Good understanding of:
    − AWS, OpenStack and/or other cloud PaaS solutions
    − SAN Technologies, storage hardware and configuration
    − Backup and Restore systems, i.e. Veeam, IBM Spectrum Protect(TSM)
