Our Exciting Opportunity

We are looking for a driven and creative researcher to engage in our concept development of current and future generations mobile networks, used by billions of people, all around the world. In this role you will be part of a Back Office team working with the evolution of the 3rd Generation Partnership project (3GPP), within Radio Access Network (RAN), to strengthen Ericsson's position in 5G/6G standardization!

As a researcher in 5G and 6G standardization, you will join an international team of world-class researchers with a diverse group of backgrounds and experiences, including some of the key authorities and technology leaders in mobile communication.

The section you will belong to has representatives in all RAN working groups and is staffing Back office teams in a variety of Work or Study Items (WI/SI) within 3GPP.

The role can be based in one of our research sites in Stockholm or Linköping, Sweden, and will report to the Research Leader - 3GPP Standardization Business Area Networks.

You will

  • Perform concept development related to 3GPP work and study items
  • Bring forward new innovations and ideas to strengthen Ericsson technical leadership and improve Ericsson technical portfolio
  • Prepare contributions for 3GPP standardization meetings
  • Ensure synchronization between the 3GPP standardization and product development regarding functionality and performance


To be successful in the role you must have

  • A minimum MSc degree in a technical field or equivalent
  • Excellent knowledge of Mobile Networks
  • Outstanding communication and ability to build networks
  • Demonstrated leadership capability
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
  • Passion to develop and drive new ways of working, to produce research results in efficient ways
