At Business Unit Networks, PDU Transport Systems we are on a quest to define a technology leading Transport product portfolio. We secure technology leadership by driving proof of concept studies, technology pre-development activities and preparing product portfolio plans. We invent the technology and build solution insights for enabling market leading 5G transport. We impact internally and externally.

We are looking for a new team-member in our standardization team! In this role you are a part of owning the external industry standards ecosystem, and form connections and engaging with research and development programs. Our teams are diverse and global, and we enjoy supporting in discussions related to your area of expertise.

You will

  • Represent Ericsson as a delegate in standards organizations such as IETF, IEEE, ITU-T and Broadband Forum (BBF).
  • Develop and drive feasibility studies related to packet and optical transport networking technology application for mobile networks for 5G and beyond.
  • Develop contributions to standards organizations, evaluate internal and external standardization strategy and proposals, and coordinate with internal research, product line and product development teams
  • Influence technical directions both internally and externally and be responsible for learning activities.

To be successful in the role you must have

  • 7+ years of experience in the IP and transport networking industry.
  • Significant experience with IP and packet transport networking, in particular: Ethernet, MPLS and its derivatives (e.g., Segment Routing, DetNet, EVPN, GMPLS, etc), IP (v4 and v6), Routing Protocols (e.g., OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, RSVP, etc).
  • Significant experience with transport networking standards organizations. Familiarity with partner initiatives such as 3GPP is a plus
  • Experience with application of the technologies above to network architectures. Application to support all generations of RAN fronthaul and backhaul connectivity to and into the mobile packet core is a plus.
  • Experience with packet transport OAM technologies used to detect, measure and ensure quality of service and traffic engineering.
  • Experience with network management modeling and methods and with the transport network management standardization community.

Additional requirements include

  • Knowledge of product development, specifically router and Ethernet switch development.
  • Willingness to travel internationally, approximately 15 weeks / year (~30%).
