Our Exciting Opportunity

PDU CDS Systems is the department developing system solutions for Ericsson Radio Base Stations (RBS) with the main focus on 5G. We develop IP Transport, Interconnect (fronthaul), Synchronization, Resource & Equipment Handling solutions and Architecture for all standards.

We drive strategy and development plans for the multi-standard RBS platform. We are working as a team and our focus is on Lean and Agile ways of working. Continues competence build-up is an essential part of our daily work.

For you who wish to develop or grow as a system engineer, there are several open positions in our systems team. We are all technical leaders working in different roles as system developers, technical coordinators and Kanban Masters with many opportunities for interesting and exciting tasks over time.

As a system developer/technical leader you will drive/participate in solutions' studies and setting up technical requirements based on customer requests and product improvements. Work includes performing conceptual system studies to support business decisions and to take the responsibility for a specific solution. You will bring the customer perspective into our design solutions in agreement with strategic product owners. Also, you will collaborate with designers in SW, HW and verification as well as other system developers.

This position is open in the Systems IP Transport section. You will get an opportunity to propose and develop new IP Transport and IP Security functional features and solutions for Baseband Unit (Digital Unit in RBS). The work includes all development activities starting from customer needs analyses, architecture design, system design support, PLM support. You will work in close cooperation with Product Line management, Strategic Product Management teams, other Ericsson sites and modules as well as with our partners in other countries.

You will

  • Develop Transport SW features for new Baseband (vRAN, O-RAN, E-RAN)
  • Propose and develop new SW features for Transport in Baseband products and RAN. Perform Continuous Analysis and Requirements Handling
  • Define a long- and short-term strategy for the development of the Transport function module
  • Lead a product evolution and Technology Leadership (SW, HW, virtualization)
  • Based on customers' feedback and business needs introduce new functionalities and work on SW improvements. Drive Continuous Improvements of Products and Processes
  • Take part and contribute on different forums regarding technical features, development strategy and future product needs
  • Represent Transport function expertise in different RA programs, interact with Product Design teams, other PDUs, S&T and PL/PA

To be successful in the role you must have:

Core Proficiencies:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships both internally and externally
  • The ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and problem solve in stressful situations
  • Takes a logical and orderly approach to analyzing problems, coordinating work and planning actions
  • Knowledge in MS RBS/ Baseband products
  • Broad competence in IP Technologies, IP Architecture, Standardizations & Open Forums, IP Transport Solutions

Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in RnD, PDU work

Technical Proficiencies:

  • IP security, Security GW, OAM security
  • IPv4 and IPv6 networks including routing protocols such as OSPF, ISIS, BGP, ECMP
  • Redundancy protocols such as BFD, VRRP
  • MPLS protocols (LDP, RSVP, MPBGP)
  • IP Multicast
  • Ethernet protocols and architectures such as VLAN, LAG, RSTP, PB, PBB
