Wi-Fi Mobility Gateway is Ericsson's key product to integrate the traffic from non-3GPP networks into the mobile packet core and is one of the products in the wide product portfolio that are developed by Product Development Unit (PDU) Packet Core

Product Development Unit Packet Core has main sites in 5 countries globally. China, Hungary, Germany, Spain, and Sweden.

Ericsson Wi-Fi Mobility Gateway is a fully virtualized network function, cloud, and hardware agnostic, with a flexible deployment footprint. Wi-Fi Mobility Gateway adapts to different growth scenarios, where there is a need to extend LTE connectivity and voice services to Wi-Fi networks. With nearly 40% Global market share, Ericsson Wi-Fi Mobility Gateway is a well-established product, appreciated by its high-capacity performance and security hardened features.

We at Wi-Fi Mobility Gateway actively drive technology leadership and innovation initiatives together with colleagues in the entire Product Development Unit Packet Core.

As a Wi-Fi Mobility Software Architect, you will work in an agile team and be responsible for the design and blueprinting architecture, realized by the software engineers. We are looking for a person who is continuously matching business requirements with perspectives of business process. Someone who builds business value by balancing the functional requirements against other non-functional/quality requirements, making vital priorities and compromises.

We are currently expanding our team and therefore looking for Software Architect. Here you would join a department developing products that allow customers to access the core of a mobile network using Wi-Fi. There are many benefits to support this and a primary one is to provide users with extended coverage. We work in autonomous and empowered teams and strive to have the visibility that enables distributed decision making. Our way of working is based on agile/lean practices and methods with continuous improvements and innovation as part of the daily work.

You will

  • Be required to drive technology and product leadership and to contribute to the evolution of our Wi-Fi Mobility Gateway platform
  • Produce work in accordance with principles and standard methodologies of quality software development
  • Learn and implement methodologies
  • Guide and support scrum teams to work towards Definition of Done
  • Be a champion in standardization and technology
  • Influence using technology competence
  • Mentor & Drive Knowledge Sharing and Learning


To be successful in the role you must have

  • Education: BSc or MSc level in a technical subject area or the equivalent level of knowledge (Software Engineer)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience: proven track record in product development as Software Architect
  • Experienced in Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure)
  • Experience with container technology (Docker, Kubernetes, HELM)
  • Solid programming skills in more than one programming language, including C or C++
  • Solid Knowledge of design patterns
  • Very good understanding of IP protocols and routing
  • Experience in software development supporting tools (Git, JIRA, Gerrit, Jenkins)
  • Knowledge and experience with Linux operating systems
  • Business Understanding & Customer Insights
  • Knowledge on how to handle Product Life Cycle Management
  • Ability to co-operate in teams, projects, and networks globally to achieve results
  • Passion for helping teams grow by inspiring and mentoring engineers
  • Capacity to deal with differences in opinion in a mature and fair way, helping teams to commit and move forward
  • Passion for driving continuous improvement initiatives on engineering standard methodologies like coding, testing, or monitoring
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write detailed technical documents
  • Experience working in global multicultural environment
  • Self-motivated and works with minimal direction
  • Proficient in spoken and written English
