Our Exciting Opportunity

The Technology & development unit within Dedicated Networks seeks at accelerating Ericsson's effort to capture the market for Dedicated Enterprise Networks. It is the major growth opportunity beyond the enhanced Mobile Broadband use case for Ericsson.

Dedicated Networks is hosted in BTEB (Business Area Technologies and New Businesses). The unit has the ownership of Ericsson's Dedicated Networks business. Our responsibilities include P&L, Sales enablement, Development, optimized Delivery and relevant Partnering & eco system development for Dedicated Networks across the Ericsson Group. The unit uses R&D, Supply, Services, Managed Services and Sales in respective BAs and MAs in addition to its own capabilities.

As Head of Systems & Technology, you and your team will own the strategic direction of our technology choices, architectures, technical requirements on ourselves and on our sub suppliers, both internal and external! You will craft ideas into clear requirements to serve our agile teams. With your help we will secure close co-operation with other Ericsson teams that contribute to our offerings as well as with HCPs and ISVs that through APIs or otherwise will provide additional values to our end customers. Since Dedicated Networks is a new offering in an emerging and constantly evolving segment, you will together with our CUs and Product Management engage with lead customers.

You will report to the Head of Technology & Development and be a member of the units Leadership Team and will collaborate with Product Management daily. The main development sites are in Sweden (primarily Gothenburg) and Germany (Aachen). The leadership team consists of R&D units with agile teams, program management and our head Architect.

We expect you to recruit and lead a set of professionals to steer the rest of the unit that is working with a wide range of components, including HW, RAN, Core Network and NW Management, and packaging of those. Their proficiencies span system architecture, UX, Cloud orchestration, front end, back end & verification. Additionally, with solutions consisting of both on-prem HW as well as components running in the cloud.

Together we will continue to build on the innovative attitude that is central to our success. Evolving, improving, and reinventing current ways of working from a product, organizational and process perspective, to build next-gen products and solutions for new customer/market segments.

As a leader, you will be a role model of Ericsson's core values and foster a One Ericsson team.

You will:

  • Guide our technology foresight and scouting, to make sure that we have a winning technology that suits our business needs, when we need them
  • Create Product business intelligence insights, act upon and share with relevant partners
  • Identify and drive technology development to build insights to develop strategies for Technology Evolution and to generate business opportunities
  • Put in place and drive relevant governance for the technology evolution
  • Work continuously and actively with the Product & Solution Management team to detail business ideas into implementable main requirements for our cross functional agile teams as well as providing detailed feedback on proposed IPPs
  • Foster a can do approach within a team of excellent architects and system managers
  • Defining and driving prototyping activities that will enhance the product - market fit and improve long term value
  • Continuously enhance ways of working to improve productivity, efficiency and motivation of the team

To be successful in the role you must have

We are looking for a candidate that is result oriented with good communication skills. Someone that is technically very capable in combination with proven leadership capabilities in a diverse organization. We envision an entrepreneurial individual, that can handle high levels of complexity and generate energy and motivation in others. You are good at attracting talent and stimulate innovation.

Experience of the global telecom market and its transformation to serve Industry 4.0 is a plus. We anticipate that deep understanding of at least one domain, and good overall understanding of RAN, Core, NW Management, and IT/Cloud is required.

Understanding of eco system and devices, UX design and design thinking is important, and we believe that a genuine technical interest and confirmed experience of technology scouting is important.

Our aim is to offer improved packaging of competitive Private 5G solutions that scale up in volume. We are striving for an offering that serves both end customers' and operators' needs, especially related to 5G, fitting Ericsson's chosen go-to-market models. We also expect a person that can generate continuous improvements of our processes and capabilities.

The role is based in Aachen, Gothenburg or Kista.
