Our Exciting Opportunity

DNEW Standards & Technology is responsible for securing future technology leadership for the Development Unit Networks (DNEW). A part of achieving this is to perform concept development for mobile broadband and beyond, typically impacting product decisions and design in the 3-5 years' perspective. We also lead Ericsson's Business Area Networks (BNEW) projects for standardization in 3GPP, IEEE, ITU, IETF, ORAN, ONAP and so on.

We are now looking for a Researcher with competence in areas such as management an orchestration as well as extensive experience in working with large open source organizations. The successful candidate will work to build technology leadership for Ericsson by, e.g.,:

  • Contributing to Ericsson technology strategy
  • Developing novel concepts, solutions and algorithms
  • Interacting in open source and standardization fora
  • Introducing solutions into product development.

You will

  • Perform, document and communicate research studies, measurements or computer simulations
  • Create new technical solutions and protect them with Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
  • Engage closely with product management, development units and research across Ericsson
  • Represent Ericsson in external fora for open source and standardization and in university collaborations and customer meetings
  • Guide and mentor other researchers
  • Develop Research strategies.

To be successful in the role you must have

  • Education: MSc or equivalent / PhD or Licentiate degree
  • Hands-on experience in working with management and orchestration
  • A deep understanding and experience of open source fora
  • Strong analytical skills and capability to acquire new knowledge and apply it in the job
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
  • An innovative approach and the ability to work independently and in teams
  • Ability to develop and drive new ways of working to produce research results in a more efficient way.

Additional Requirements:

  • Deep knowledge of mobile network system architecture
  • Understanding of mobile network automation including cross-domain aspects
  • Understanding of X-as-a-service, cloud technologies, analytics and assurance, and their applicability to mobile networks
  • Ability to build internal and external contact networks.
