Our Exciting Opportunity

As the manager for the unit Material Technology you will be responsible for a team of highly skilled material engineers. The technology area is in a growing phase. The team handles several technical issues and studies within Material Technology. Surface treatment methods, thermal interface materials, corrosion issues, additive manufacturing, materiel properties vs cost, to mention a few.

There are presently 5 employees, and some consultants, in the team. You will play an important part in expanding and develop this area within Business Unit Networks.

This includes:
  • Management of the present staff
  • Recruiting of new engineers
  • Handling relationship with suppliers, manufacturing sites and other relevant partners including Universities
  • Drive technology leadership and research in Material Technology
  • Handling the global responsibility of the material technology area, working closely with a wide range of projects at different Ericsson sites in the world


In addition to the Material Technology area, you will contribute to the Mechanical, Material & Thermal (MMT) department leadership team, defining and executing the sector strategy and ensuring that the whole of MMT is successful.

You will
  • Mentor, engage and ensure that your employees succeed in what they do!
  • Enable competence build up among personnel, and build long-term competence strategy within the development area
  • Maintain good physical and psychosocial work environment and enabling people and team building
  • Contribute to the development of outstanding Network Products and User Experience
  • Be part of the MIT-leadership team to build vision, formulate directions and set targets for the business


You will in this role report to Head of MIT.

To be successful in the role you must have
  • A relevant university degree
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with proven experience as a line manager or leader within an ICT R&D operation
  • Solid knowledge, understanding and experience of R&D processes, including lean & agile practices
  • Experience in development initiatives in multi-site organizations or projects
  • Result oriented abilities and you find it stimulating to work with organizational change and collaboration across organizational boundaries
  • Business and costumer focus with a high accountability to deliver results
  • Good skills and knowledge in the material technology area, radio design and radio products
  • Good experience in developing and driving strategy, preferably within telecom or/and material technology area
  • Good overall technical understanding of material suppliers, their products and production technologies
  • A genuine interest in people and fully embrace the Ericsson leadership framework
  • Large degree of flexibility and willingness to seek different tasks
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written
