Our Exciting Opportunity

We are looking for an internal Field Application Engineer for internal TRX-IC with outstanding knowledge in radio HW and good SW understanding.

The Digital Radio Implementation group belonging to Common Radio Module (CRM) sector and the digital and mixed signal department with PDU Radio, has the responsibility to implement near antenna algorithmic solutions for radio ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) and FPGAs (Field-Programmable Gate Arrays) and TRX-IC. The radio System-on-Chip (SoC) is the heart of the Ericsson radio units, which are part of Ericsson's 2G, 3G, 4G and 5 G base stations.

Your primary role will be to work with our Mixed Signal radio development activities at the Ericsson design center in Sweden (Kista) and be the link between our internal converter design team and global product development sites in China and Canada.

This position reports to the Manager CRM DMS Digital 3.


  • Main technical support for product projects globally
  • HW design (RF, power, digital) of TRX-IC evaluation board
  • Support design of FPGA capture board
  • Definition and implementation of GUI for configuration and test of TRX-IC evaluation board
  • Definition of automatic test environment
  • RF and functional verification of TRX-IC
  • Root cause analysis with respect to performance and functional short comings in TRX-IC
  • Support and debug for HW/SW bring-up activities in product projects and testbeds

To be successful in the role you have

  • M. Sc. in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Analog and/or mixed signal HW design
  • Understanding of software architectures and layers such as application layer, DLL, API, HAL
  • Familiarity with SW programming is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with RF test and measurement equipment's (Signal generators, Spectrum analyzers and network analyzers)
  • Interest to constantly learn, communicate, interact, share information, and are willing to help others between organizations, internally and externally outside Ericsson
  • Ability to work in teams with minimal supervision but also ability to take initiative and work independently when needed
  • A quality attitude, ability for critical thinking and a drive to always improve
  • Open minded and analytical, problem-solving skills
  • Sense of ownership, are analytical, structural and result oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Additional requirements

  • Good knowledge of Mixed Signal architecture and critical aspects of SW implementation
  • Good knowledge of Radio requirements for our common Radio standards
  • Experience from automatic test development
  • Experience from design/implementation of high-speed links (e.g. JESD204C)
