Ericsson Research develops new communication solutions and standards. The organization has responsibility to provide Ericsson with world-class system concepts, technology innovations, and methodology. Within Ericsson Research, Research Area AI is responsible for pushing the AI frontiers within telecom, combining machine learning and reasoning methods, tools, and techniques to drive intelligent autonomous operations in large complex telecom systems.

The available Researcher position will strengthen our research on machine learning and communication concepts for, e.g., future 5G, Cloud and IoT systems.

You will

  • Join an experienced team working with cutting edge AI algorithms
  • Be part of investigating and evaluating AI concepts and solutions for future radio network systems
  • Participate in the continuous development and improvement within the rapidly evolving area of AI and telecom.
  • Understand the interaction between the latest radio network systems to ensure efficient overall performance
  • Work with algorithm design, model development, simulations, concept design and possibly standardization
  • Use simulation tools for evaluating new concepts and solutions
  • Have knowledge of hardware possibilities and limitations, based on today's and tomorrow's technologies
  • Cooperate with internal and external partners


To be successful in the role you must have

  • Proven skills in machine learning code development or a PhD degree and some experience, or a long and similar experience within the industry
  • Demonstrated experience in machine learning, machine reasoning, signal processing and/or wireless communications
  • Strong background in Reinforcement Learning, Transfer and Federated Learning, Deep Neural Networks, Time series analysis and/or Bayesian networks
  • Experience with Keras, Tensorflow, PyTorch, Spark, Pandas, Scikit and/or Git is commendable
  • Practical implementation/programming skills, for example, in Python
  • Good knowledge in simulation and evaluation tool methodology
  • Demonstrated ability to develop novel and innovative ideas, generate patents, publish results at conferences and in journals
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to build networks
  • Ability to develop and drive new ways of working, to produce research results in efficient ways
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
