Who we are

Board Power, within Power Solutions, at Lindholmen/Göteborg and Kista/Stockholm develops world class power solutions for most of the Ericsson's product portfolios, covering IoT to 6G in a global environment. Our power solutions cover both analog and digital solutions within range from a couple of mW up to kW and with voltage levels mainly from 0.6Vdc to 60Vdc. Internally some voltage needs to be boosted to a higher service voltage level of operation.

Goal with master thesis

Power conversion when increasing voltage is a challenge from a robustness and sustainable point of view. Topology of boosting voltage is aiming for high efficiency. Best topology capable to handle different output voltages higher than feeding rail with high efficiency could contribute to a more sustainable, better priced, and more power dense solution.

This master thesis shall:

  • Investigate the possibilities to power up products with higher voltage need than available rails in a typical application. Rails may be 5VDC to 15VDC in low power range
  • Theoretical and practical investigation to propose the best way to do such solutions well integrated and suitable for high frequency radio applications.
  • A hardware performance comparison between at least two types of converters should be made (voltage mode vs current mode of operation). Out of investigation a suitable solution should be proposed. If possible, a prototype showing the possibilities should be developed.

Working methods

Theoretical analysis, literature study, design, and evaluation of hardware.


  • Education: Master within Electrical engineering, Physics engineering or similar.
  • An eager interest in power products/area
  • English skills (fluent), both oral and written
  • Suitable for 1 student or 2 students working together.
