Our Exciting Opportunity

The thesis project will be carried out in the development organization for Operations Support Systems (OSS) within Business Unit Digital Services. Our responsibility in Karlskrona is the development of products within the Provisioning and Activation area, i.e. activation of Subscribers, Services and Resources. Currently, we have ~400 installations worldwide and our products serve over 2 billion users.

Within Ericsson Dynamic Activation development we are developing a novel way documenting and analyzing our software architecture. We have created a Domain Specific Language (DSL) that support the creation of detail-rich models. The DSL supports collaboration and provides strong consistency guarantees, while still making it easy to add new facts to a model.

We are now in the search for visual ways of exploring these models. Currently we are limited to the generation of static, predefined graphs and figures.

The goal of this thesis is the creation of a GUI front-end to dynamically explore our models, supporting searches, filtering in/out information, navigating between different parts of the model.

You will

  • Work with an existing well-defined back-end data structure that describes our software model. In practice a large graph of information about parts of our software, richly annotated, with links describing different types of relations between parts.
  • Explore suitable frameworks for on-demand rendering of views
  • Implement a tool in the form of a web front-end for dynamically exploring the model
  • Have access to the intended expert users of the tool for rich feedback and input to the work

  • Final year Bachelor's or Master's student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar.
  • A significant number of courses completed (associated with the degree, bachelors or masters level)
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to acquire new knowledge and apply it in the job.
  • Good communication skills in written and spoken English.
  • Optionally, exposure to Kubernetes and databases is an added advantage.
