About this opportunity

The Functional System department within Radio Systems & Technology sector is responsible for defining the radio functions, both as a Radio node as well as on Radio unit level. We systemize functions for control plane (configuration, compensation, supervision, report, protection, security etc.). The Radio Base Station (RBS) consist of Baseband, Radio unit and antenna system. Our focus is on the Radio functions and required interfaces towards other elements in the architecture. In general, the job includes writing functional requirement specifications and functional descriptions, where one of the main stakeholders is Radio Software development. In addition, we cooperate closely with Radio Hardware development and other technical areas to cover the total radio functionality "end to end".

You have experience in systems development and interested in understanding how it all fits together to ensure an overall good solution. You know how to take complex problems and explain/describe them so that more people can understand and break them down such that solving them becomes straightforward while you seize opportunities to probe new techniques such as ML and AI to design new - or improve current - functions. You are organized and self-motivated and able to turn ideas into concrete solutions. You have interest in documenting, describing the ideas and crafting functional requirements as well as driving constant improvement of our solutions. Interest in conceptual work and systemization is a must, as well as the drive to actively interact with other parts of Ericsson to secure a complete and solid radio solution.

You will bring

  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering / Engineering Physics / Data communication, or equivalent such as relevant working experience
  • Solid product development background in wireless communications
  • Preferably over 7 years of experience from System/Software/Hardware development
  • Deep knowledge of Radio access technologies (WCDMA, LTE, NR)
  • Products development knowledge, with a focus on Radio products
  • Radio Product Feature and Functional knowledge
  • Domain experience from embedded systems and embedded software
  • Knowledge within digital signal processing
  • Knowledge within radio frequency
  • Knowledge or curiosity about ML/AI
